GardenFest of Lights at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens

"GardenFest of Lights starts the Friday after Thanksgiving with live music, costumed characters, a countdown to the lights coming on at 5:30 p.m., and fire-spinning. The first 1,000 people receive a FREE finger laser light.
A holiday tradition! The show features more than a half million lights arranged in botanical themes throughout the Garden. Visitors can also marvel at displays in the Garden’s Conservatory and decorations in the Visitors Center and the Education and Library Complex. And there's great fun in the Children's Garden!

Maymont's "Victorian Holidays" November 2008–January 2009

Victorian Holidays: "Visions of sugarplums will dance in your head as you experience the splendors of the holidays at Maymont. Join us for dazzling tours of the lavishly decorated Maymont Mansion, intimate holiday tours of Maymont by moonlight, and the annual old-fashioned Christmas festivities. Closed on Mondays, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Fees for activities.
For seven full weeks, Maymont is decked out for the holidays! Kids and adults alike will enjoy the beautiful decorations and delightful events that attracted visitors from 35 states and seven countries last December. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate the season!"
Maymont Mansion Holiday Tours

Celebrate a very special Christmas at Maymont Mansion, decorated in authentic Victorian holiday splendor. Lavish tree trimmings, the opulent dining room and other spectacular décor bring the wonders of an upper-class Victorian Christmas to life. Meanwhile, in the basement of the mansion, the kitchen is a hub for holiday dinner preparations. Enjoy a tour with out-of-town guests or make it your own annual tradition. Tours are available every half-hour. $5 suggested donation.
Maymont by Moonlight
Fridays, December 12 & 19

Take an intimate holiday tour of Maymont…by moonlight. Horse-drawn carriages transport arriving guests down the luminary-lit lane to Maymont Mansion, where Victorian ladies and gentlemen escort guests through the beautifully decorated home of Major and Mrs. James Dooley. Carol singing and toasted marshmallows are enjoyed along the way and this magical evening concludes with light Christmas refreshments. $25 per person/$20 for members. Registration required.

Experience the grace and gentility of a Victorian Christmas on a special tour designed for the entire family. Grand Illumination of the James Center

One of the top venues for Richmond's non-profit community art groups, the James Center Lobby and Atrium may take a breath once in awhile to change exhibits, but they hardly ever close. From hosting Virginia Commonwealth University's senior sculptures to hosting events of the Richmond Craftsman Guild, one can see everything from paintings and photos to sketches or even "can" art creations. The lobby has more of a gallery feel, while the three-story atrium offers more foot traffic.
Ukrop’s Christmas Parade (Science Museum of Virginia to 7th Street)
